Clouding of the normally transparent eye lense and prevent light from reaching the retina causing loss of vision
In cataract the lense of the is cloudy as a result of changes in protein fibres in the lens. The cloudy affects the transmission and focusing of light entering the eye, reducing clarity of vision. Cataract do not normally affect children or young adults. Most people over age 70 have some cataract formation , but visual loss is often minimal as only the outer edge of the lense are affected
